Viewers Still Want TV on TV Sets

Viewing of television online continues to show some growth, but the vast majority of viewers still prefer to get their content traditionally, via full-sized TV sets. That’s the conclusion of a new study conducted by Nielsen for the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing.

Although 35% of adult broadband users in the survey indicated they had watched at least one TV program originally shown on TV via the internet, 94% of people who subscribe to either wired cable or a satellite service said they still preferred to watch TV on a traditional set.  Nielsen also found that...

BET Awards Hits Right Notes with Viewers

The 2008 BET Awards ceremony took home the award for most-watched program on ad-supported cable among adults 18-34 and 18-49 last week!  The celebration of music and artists belted out a 4.2 rating among households.

In other ratings news, this year's annual NBA Draft was a "first-round pick" for sports fans.  ESPN's coverage of the event scored a 3.3 rating among men 18-34.

TV viewers stepped up to the plate to watch this year's College World Series.  The live game telecast on ESPN hit it out of the park with a 2.4 rating among households.

Eye on the Tiger: Viewers Flock to US Open Coverage

The drama unfolded at the US Open as Tiger Woods braved the pain of a bum knee and showed his fans once again, why he is a true sports hero.   Last Monday's coverage of the tournament on ESPN came up with a "hole-in-one" in the ratings.  ESPN's coverage generated a huge 4.3 rating among households.

TV audiences are "in-step" with MTV's dance competition show, America's Best Dance Crew.  Last week's episode moved to the rhythm of a 2.1 rating among women 18-34.
