Integrated Mobile Text Advertising and Spot Cable Campaign Helps Restaurant Draw Customers in a Challenging Economy
About Fun City Pizza
The fun never stops at Fun City Pizza in Springdale, Arkansas. They have a 40,000 cubic foot play center that has ball pits, bounce-arounds, sky-tubes and slides that keep everyone happy for hours. More than 50 video and ticket-giving games plus a full pizza menu, make Fun City Pizza a favorite family destination in Northwest Arkansas.
Situation
As an existing Cox Media cable advertising client, Fun City Pizza wanted to develop a plan to boost customer visits during the recession, especially during the traditional slower spring months. In addition, Fun City Pizza was facing new competition from a nationally-recognized competitor in a neighboring area. They needed to make sure the Fun City Pizza brand stayed top of mind with their customers and drive visitors to their location.
Solution
Fun City Pizza wanted to continue targeting kids with a specific message regarding their bigger play area, but also wanted to communicate with parents about their quality and value. The local Cox Media team worked with Fun City Pizza to develop a cable advertising schedule that included networks like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network targeted to kids, but also added some mom-friendly programming. They also added a mobile text advertising campaign that promoted free tokens and family value meals to entice viewers to visit the restaurant. Cox helped coordinate a live character promotion featuring Kids Finger Printing with SpongeBob Squarepants.
Results
Overall, Cox Media has helped Fun City Pizza maintain their customer base and weather the economic situation. A combination of cable television advertising and mobile text couponing drove both repeat business and new customers and the live event with SpongeBob Squarepants was Fun City's biggest sales night of the year.
