'Burn Notice' Blazes Brightly on USA

The sizzling hot summer on cable TV continues!  The second season premiere of USA's Burn Notice turned in an incendiary ratings performance.  The episode was the most watched cable program among households for the week with a fiery 4.0 rating.

In other ratings news, NASCAR racing continues to burn the pavement with high performing aduience numbers.  Last week's race coverage on TNT from Chicago clocked in with a 3.7 rating among households.

When the economy starts to falter, businesses naturally rush to cut expenses, and the marketing budget often winds up on the chopping block. But experts say a downturn is the time to re-evaluate, shift and even beef up your marketing efforts.

Viewers Still Want TV on TV Sets

Viewing of television online continues to show some growth, but the vast majority of viewers still prefer to get their content traditionally, via full-sized TV sets. That’s the conclusion of a new study conducted by Nielsen for the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing.

Although 35% of adult broadband users in the survey indicated they had watched at least one TV program originally shown on TV via the internet, 94% of people who subscribe to either wired cable or a satellite service said they still preferred to watch TV on a traditional set.  Nielsen also found that...
